Support for Key Environmental Organizations to Combat Climate Change

St. John's, NL — On Monday, May 3, 2021, Newfoundland-based smart thermostat company Mysa proudly announced the results of its recent fundraising campaign in support of global environmental stewardship organization EARTHDAY.ORG, and Quebec-based social environmental advocacy and educational organization, Sentier Urbain. Mysa raised over $7600 CAD in support of both organizations' ongoing efforts to combat climate change via a $10 per unit donation for every Mysa Smart Thermostat sold on the company's ecommerce website, getmysa.com, between April 16-22, 2021.

Mysa Co-Founder and CEO Josh Green shared the following on the company's support of these organizations, through the lens of Mysa's mission to create innovative solutions to combat climate change: “Mysa exists to fight climate change — we live that mission daily by designing smart thermostats that help homeowners and businesses become more energy efficient.” Green added, “However, it's not just about making energy efficiency products; we also do it through education and advocacy in our communities and throughout our customer base. The awareness and education piece is crucial and it’s why we support initiatives like Earth Day. We're incredibly proud to help our family of customers across North America work together to solve the most pressing issue facing our planet.”

EARTHDAY.ORG's mission is to diversify, educate and activate the environmental movement worldwide. Since the first Earth Day in 1970, EARTHDAY.ORG has grown to become the world's largest recruiter to the environmental movement, connecting and collaborating with more than 75,000 partners in over 192 countries to drive positive action for our planet's future.

“Reducing and conserving energy in order to cut carbon emissions is core to Earth Day's 2021 theme Restore Our Earth,” says Kathryn Stoddard, VP of Marketing and Development at EARTHDAY.ORG. Innovative technology, along with bold action by governments and corporations, can allow us to reach the goal of net zero emissions by 2040. Bold action is needed now to avoid the worst impacts of climate change.”

Sentier Urbain is a Quebec-based non-profit organization whose mission is to mobilize communities for social greening. Since 1993, Sentier Urbain has been working to bring people closer to nature through its three fields of intervention: Mobilize, Educate, and Green.
