Why monitor temperature and humidity at home?

Avoid Property Damage

It’s recommended that you keep your home’s indoor humidity level between 30% to 40% during the winter and 50% to 60% during the summer.

When it comes to humidity in your home, it’s all about control and balance. Excess moisture caused by high humidity can lead to  mold, mildew, and rot. On the other hand, if there isn’t enough moisture in the air, you could end up with uncomfortably dry or itchy eyes and skin, unhappy houseplants, and even increase the speed at which infections spread.

Maintaining control over your home’s temperature is also critical to preventing costly seasonal property damage, like frozen pipes, as well as year-round concerns like mold, mildew, and rot.

Lastly, monitoring and controlling your home’s temperature can help you save money by identifying and fixing problems like drafty windows or faulty heaters — some of the main culprits contributing to excess electricity use.

Monitor a Second Property

Are you a cabin or cottage owner? With Home Environment Alerts, your Mysa will let you know if something goes wrong with  temperature or humidity – like after a freezing winter storm, or in a sweltering summer heat wave.

Have a short term rental property? Home Environment Alerts can help you make sure the property stays comfortable for your guests during their stay. You can also ensure they’re not using an unreasonable amount of  energy to heat or cool the property.

Protect Loved Ones

Of course, maintaining a comfortable and safe temperature for your loved ones at home is your top priority. Keeping the baby's room “just right” in terms of temperature helps them stay safe and get the peaceful sleep they need, and takes a lot of worry off your mind.

Your pets will also thank you for keeping your home’s temperature comfortable when you’re not there. Sometimes heaters act up, or air conditioners fail – if you have a particularly temperature-sensitive pet, a sudden, significant change in temperature could seriously impact their well-being.

Peace of Mind

Ultimately, Home Environment Alerts are about giving yourself peace of mind whenever you’re not there. Trusting that  everyone and everything in your home is a-ok is the stress-reliever you deserve, and will help you stay in the moment, wherever you are.
